30+ New Rathdrum Spots & Mother’s Day Plans 💐

Happy Friday! Is anyone else currently dying from allergies? No? Just me? Cool. I hope everyone had a great Cinco de Mayo—having it land on a Taco Tuesday was a fun bonus, and hopefully you were able to enjoy a margarita, or at least some chips and salsa.

And now onto the weekly roundup:

Mother’s Day Weekend 💐

Don’t forget that Mom’s big day is this Sunday! If you’re looking for the perfect local gift, the Kootenai County Farmer’s Market is open Saturday morning for fresh flowers and handmade finds. Or, if she loves a good hunt, the CDA Flea Market officially opens for the season this Sunday, May 10! As always, you can use the Coeur Guide to scout out brunch spots or coffee plans to make her day special.

Local Spotlight: Breaking the Rent Cycle with Justin Petersen 🏠

If you’ve looked at CDA home prices lately and felt like homeownership was out of reach, you’ll want to meet Justin Petersen with Guild Mortgage. As a local young professional with 9 years of market experience, Justin specializes in helping people break the rent cycle by simplifying the "scary" parts of the mortgage process. Whether you’re looking into low down payment programs (some starting at just $500!) or need a long-term roadmap to get your credit ready for next year, he’s a great resource who actually understands the North Idaho landscape.

Site Update: Rathdrum's on the Menu!

I’ve been busy this week and just added 30 local spots in Rathdrum to the website! If you haven’t been up that way in a while, it’s a nice change of scenery—and honestly, sometimes it’s faster to get to Rathdrum than it is to find parking downtown. From hidden gem cafes to local hangouts, the Rathdrum section is officially ready for your next weekend drive.

Fresh Finds in CDA 🥪🌶️

Midtown just got a major flavor upgrade with Husky Boys Sandwich Co. celebrating their grand opening this week. It’s a crew of local guys serving up fresh, massive sandwiches with big flavors. If you’re looking for a solid, filling lunch from a local team, go show them some love and welcome them to the neighborhood.

I’ve also seen a lot of questions asking what the old Chili's restaurant (RIP Triple Dipper) will be. It’s officially becoming Coyol Cocina & Tequila. Since Chili’s had a full bar and "tequila" is literally in their name, I think it's safe to say we can expect a solid drink menu. While I'm not sure yet if the food will be fusion or authentic Mexican, it looks like they might be putting in a patio (which Chili’s didn't have) and you know I love a good patio! No word on opening date yet.

Whether you’re brave enough to head out and explore or you’re hiding inside from the pollen like I'll be, I hope you have a great weekend. If you’re looking for a fresh new spot to try out, head over to the Coeur Guide for some inspiration.
